Burkina Faso always finds things difficult against Tunisia. Burkina Faso was runner-up in the 2013 African Cup of Nations and was their best performance in the competition while Tunisia was winners in 2004 and a house hold name in the African Cup of Nations.

In the 2017 African Cup of Nations Burkina Faso was in group A and won the group with goal difference as they were tied on points with Cameron. Tunisia qualified from Group B as a surprise to pundits because the pundits predicted that Algeria and Senegal ahead of Tunisia.

The 2017 African Cup of Nations have being a competition of surprises and Burkina Faso vs Tunisia will not follow suite. Burkina Faso plays more physical whilst Tunisia plays soft and often kills time with delay tactics. If Tunisia takes the early lead, Burkina Faso cannot respond to it and will continue to carry the day. Tunisia is tipped as the likely winners of this game in regulation time.

Senegal vs Cameron

Date: 28 January, 2017

Time: 19:00 GMT

Stadium: Libreville

Senegal vs Cameron is the final before the finals. The game will be clash of two nations with a lot of physical play. Senegal and Cameron both knows each other very well in terms of the players and style of play. Cameron and Senegal have met on 11 occasions with Senegal winning 4, drawing 4 and losing 3 of the games. In the African Cup of Nations, Senegal and Cameron have met 3 times, Senegal winning 1, Cameron winning 1 and 1 ending in a draw. Here are all the three meetings in the AFCON;

  • CAN 2002, Final Game: Cameron 0-0 Senegal. Cameron won on penalties by 3-2.
  • CAN 1992, Quarter-Finals: Senegal 0-1 Cameron.
  • CAN 1990, Group B, Senegal 2-0 Cameron.

Cameron always have the upper hand against Senegal in the African Cup of Nations. Senegal finished on top of Group B with 7 points whilst Cameron was on second position in Group A based on goal difference. This game will be a very difficult one because both countries have presented young talented players who have exbited incredible performances. This game may not be resulted in a regulation time but rather the game can travel to penalties. The game will be won at the midfield and Cameron has the strongest defensive midfielders so Cameron are likely to hold the midfield. Cameron are likely to win this game no matter the circumstances.

DR Congo vs Ghana

Date: 29 January, 2017

Time: 16:00 GMT

Stadium: Oyem

Ghana is the only country in the history of the African Cup of Nations to have reached the semifinals on 5 consecutive times. Ghana is always a favorite to any African Cup of Nations because of its consistency in the competition. Ghana have won the African Cup of Nations on 4 occasions while Congo DR are two times winners of the competition. Ghana and DR Congo were the strongest teams in the 1970’s and are well known to each other in the African Cup of Nations competition.

Ghana and Egypt have met on 11 occasions in total with Ghana winning 5, drawing 3 and losing 3. In the African Cup of Nations, Ghana still have the upper hand over DR Congo by winning 3, drawing 1 and losing 2. All the 6 meetings in the AFCON;

  • CAN 2013, Group B; Ghana 2-2 DR Congo.
  • CAN 1998, Group B; Ghana 0-1 DR Congo
  • CAN 1970, Group B; Ghana 2-0 DR Congo.
  • CAN 1968, Final; DR Congo 1-0 Ghana.
  • CAN 1968, Group B; Ghana 3-1 DR Congo
  • CAN 1965, Group B; Ghana 5-2 DR Congo.

In the 2017 African Cup of Nations, DR Congo is demonstrating fitness and physic throughout the games which Ghana lacks in its game. The Ghanaians have developed a sense of strong first half and a weaker second half. If Ghana is supposed to win and qualify for their 6 consecutive semifinals, Ghana must win the game during the regulation time but if the game travels to beyond the regulation time, Ghana will lack the match fitness to qualify to the semifinals. DR Congo is in top form but never underestimate the class and experience of Ghana in the competition. Ghana is the favorite to qualify for the semifinals.

Egypt vs Morocco

Date: 29 January, 2017

Time: 19:00 GMT

Stadium: Port Gentil

Egypt and Morocco are old foes in African football and are also brothers in North Africa. Egypt vs Morocco is a typical North African derby and such derbies are characterized by violence, tough challenges and red cards. The game is also entitled to simulations and there is less free play.

Morocco was winners in 1976 whilst Egypt is the all the winner of the African Cup of Nations with 7 titles in the cabinet.

Egypt and Morocco have met on 23 occasions with Egypt losing 11 and drawing 10. Egypt is a strong force in African football and with Morocco tramping over Egypt all the time, this game is a recipe for action.

In the African Cup of Nations, Egypt and Morocco have met 5 times with Morocco winning 3, drawing 1 and losing 1. Here are all the AFCON meetings;

  • CAN 2006, Group A; Egypt 0-0 Morocco.
  • CAN 1998, Group D; Egypt 0-1 Morocco.
  • CAN 1986, Semi Final; Egypt 1-0 Morocco.
  • CAN 1980, 3/4; Morocco 2-0 Egypt.
  • CAN, Group 1; Morocco 2-1 Egypt.

The history is quite emphatic for a Morocco win. In the 2017 African Cup of Nations, Egypt presented 20 debutant players to the competition thereby Egypt is lacking some experience in the team. Egypt qualified as group winners from Group D ahead of Ghana, Mali and Uganda. Morocco was second in Group C with 6 points.

Morocco is likely to win this game not only based on the grounds of history but rather on the work rate of Morocco’s players. Morocco have being a hard working team in this competition and have showed a lot of strength and physic. Morocco is a team that never stops running and attacking the opposition team. Morocco is counting on the inexperience of Egypt to qualify to the next stage of the competition which is the semifinals.
