Real Betis Balompie Makes Important Signings for the 2019-2020 Se…

With the 2019-2020 soccer
season of the Spanish La Liga, fans will enjoy seeing Lionel Messi and Eden
Hazard facing off in the title race. Although there’s still dominance at the
top, the other teams are shoulder-to-shoulder in the race to grab a place
eligible for European competition.

This new season may see Real
Betis staging a comeback, after ending last year on a disappointing 10th
place. Actions had been taken by the club, as the former Espanyol coach Rubi
had been brought to the team. Financial instability could have already been
solved, given that the management made drastic changes and recently signed an
important sponsorship contract with easyMarkets, a CySEC and ASIC
regulated broker

New players brought to replace
key departures

The greatest summer loss for
Real Betis had been the departure of last season’s top scorer Giovani Lo Celso,
who joined Tottenham Hotspur on a season-long loan. Paul Lopez moved to Roma
and Junior Firpo joined Barcelona, but several important players had also
arrived at the team.

To replace Lo Celso, Nabil Fekir, World Cup winner with France and former Lyon midfielder, had been bought for £17.78 million. The move shows that Real Betis has great attacking ambitions for the new season. Wanted by Liverpool a year ago, Fekir played nearly 200 matches for Lyon and managed to score 69 goals.

Another important signing had
been the loan of Alfonso
from Villareal. Playing on a similar position with Junior
Firpo, the left-sided player will join “Los Verdiblancos” for the current
season. Next summer, the club will be able to buy Pedraza for a deal between
10-14 million euros, as the latest reports show.

During the off-season Juanmi,
Emerson, and Dani Martin had also arrived at Betis, reinforcing the squad for
what might be one of their toughest seasons.

The pressure is expected to
mount after the significant financial investments made during the summer. That
had already been seen during the first round against Valladolid when Betis lost
unexpectedly by 1-2 playing in front of their fans. Joel
grabbed a red card since the 8th minute of the
match, which means the team will have to rely on either Martin Fernandez Daniel
or Rebollo Daniel, two younger keepers. This is the first hard task for the new
coach Rubi, but given the results he managed to achieve with his former two
clubs, we might witness an impressive season for Real Betis.
